Sighing, you put away the last ten pound textbook inside your backpack. It's actually a miracle that it still can hold up with all those books being crammed inside there. It's also a miracle that you've actually finished all of your homework. After zipping the backpack up, you decided to go see how the mysterious person was doing. Once you went out the door to where you set him down, you saw that your cat, Silver, had been sleeping on top of him (even though pets weren't allowed in the apartments, you snuck him in).
It was pretty cute, you had to agree. You crept over to the two of them and checked on the the weird person. He seemed to be much better then when you found him. You tapped him on the shoulder a little to see if he was good enough to tell you what happened if he could wake up. He groaned, then finally opened his eyes. You were kind of taken aback a little at the sight of them. His eyes were yellow with bright red irises.
Wow.
"Where… Where the fuck am I..?" he groaned. First thing he noticed was Silver. "Why the fuck is there a silver pawbeast on me?"
Well, he at least could understand him and not weird alien-sounding words… He then pushed Silver off of him and turned his attention to you. "What the hell do you want, human?" he snapped.
So there's now an awake swearing alien right before you.
How could you reply thinking about that?
You finally got some words together. "You're in my apartment right now. You were passed out tree a under-uh-what I mean is you were passed out under a tree so I took you over here to care-take care of you."
God, why are you jumbling your words so much?! Okay, so you're a bit shy around people. But now's not the time to let that timid and shyness do its work. You had to explain calmly! But, it's a bit to late now. He was looking at you like you were crazy.
"… What you're saying is that I'm in god knows where on YOUR pathetic excuse for a planet?!" he spat. You nodded, slightly offended by his comment about Earth. He sat up and looked you dead in the eye. The way he looked at you sent chills down your spine. But, you had to answer this alien's questions; he is pretty much a guest here. "Well, you're indeed on our 'pathetic excuse for a planet' right now. And so far, you're pretty much asking to be kicked out of my apartment."
He just rolled his eyes. "Whatever, human. Just tell me how the fuck I got here."
"I don't know how you got here. All I know is that-"
You remember the bright streak through the sky out the window at lunch. The more you think about it, it was going downward into…
The park.
Could that really have been him? Was it not your imagination? Impossible. But… There is proof staring right in front of you.
"Well… I think I saw a flash of light earlier today out a window. And it was directed towards where I found you later on. Maybe that was you?"
"Well, that doesn't help at all, nooksucker." he growled.
The both of you were silent.
"… So, what's your name?", you ask, "I'm _______ _______." The alien stared at you for a little while. "… I'm Karkat Vantas." he answered with an annoyed tone in his voice. Karkat… It was a really unique name. You kind of liked it.
Just then, lightning flashed outside your windows followed by a booming thunder. In response, the both of you jumped. Looks like you can't kick him out now. You're too good of a person to kick someone out while it's raining. "… I'll let you stay here, okay? I live alone, so I'm the only one who pretty much knows who you are now." you say, locking the windows from the violent storm outside. Karkat was about to object, but then glanced out one of the windows, hearing the hard downpour of rain against the glass.
"… Whatever, fuckass." he grumbled.
You smiled, then went into the kitchen. When you came out, you were holding some bagels. "Sorry, Karkat. It'd take to long for me to cook something right now, and this is all I have right now for something fast. Besides you must be really hungry, right?"
He didn't say a thing. Instead, he just nodded. Grinning, you gave him one of the bagels in your hands. Karkat inspected it a little bit, then bit off a little piece. Soon, he started eating the whole entire thing.
Wow.
He really was starving.
You decided to put all of the bagels on the coffee table next to the couch for him. "I'm going to sleep, alright? Make yourself at home." you say, then exit to your room. As soon as your bedroom door was shut, you pretty much collapsed onto your bed. Thank god it was the weekend now. It would seriously be hard taking care of Karkat while school was going on. But, it wouldn't be the weekend forever. You had to think of a way to keep him close by to you while at school.
Then it hit you.
Karkat could enroll at your school. Sure you're gonna have to do something about his gray skin and stuff, but you'd get to keep an eye on him there. He could be some exchange student from… Somewhere. Belgium maybe? Yeah, Belgium.
With that idea in your head, you drifted away into sleep.
